About Us
Our Story
WeCivitas was started in 2021 by Jasmyn Ferbish and Kaitlyn Braswell with the goal of improving the health outcomes of their communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jasmyn and Kaitlyn saw firsthand the impact the disease had on their communities and much of it was due to preventable pre-existing conditions. The two came together and decided they wanted to help improve access to health and wellness information and resources for those living in urban communities. In Latin, Civitas means “community.” The goal of WeCivitas is that if We can come together to engage and share resources, We can grow and learn as a community.
At WeCivitas we will continuously work to improve access to overall wellness information and resources for you. By “overall wellness,” we focus on physical and mental health, financial health, and community wellbeing. All of which, we believe, are necessary for better health outcomes. This means your involvement as well. We plan to engage directly with our WeCivitas community (you) to build and sustain this community. We believe in collective engagement and information sharing so we ask for you to also share your stories, tips, recipes, and more so that we can all grow and learn together.
